Cold Recycling of Road Pavements
The uniqueness of the ANT technology lies in its ability to rejuvenate the bitumen film on the surface of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) particles. This results in the formation of a large number of bituminous bonds between the particles.
The technology enables a reduction or complete elimination of bitumen emulsion or foamed bitumen, as well a decrease in cement consumption.
The technology reduces estimated project costs by more than 30% through the complete elimination of bituminous materials, reduced cement consumption, and shorter construction timelines.
The technology enables the use of up to 100% reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) by mass of cold organomineral mixtures used for base and surface pavement layers.
Rejuvenation of the bitumen film on the surface of RAP reduces or completely eliminates the need for new organic binders.
Cold organomineral mixtures can be produced either in mixing plants (with subsequent paving by asphalt pavers) or directly on-site using recyclers.
Traffic can be opened immediately after compaction of the cold organomineral layer, or construction of the wearing course can proceed without delay. No curing of the layer is required.
100% safe for humans and the environment.
Advantages of the Technology
ReasphaltANT
ReasphaltANT is a complex organic agent that produces a targeted oxidation reaction by exposing the surface of asphalt concrete granulate particles to molecular oxygen. This results in the rejuvenation of the bitumen film, allowing for a large number of new bitumen contacts to be formed after compaction of the organo-mineral mixture.
The oxidation-reduction process also acts on the particles of mineral materials, forming new crystalline bonds that enhances the strength of the organomineral mixture.
Reasphaltant is completely safe for humans and the environment.
Application Guidelines
Reasphaltant is used as an aqueous solution. The recommended application rate is 0.01% of the RAP mass. The amount of water is calculated based on the natural moisture content of the RAP and the optimum moisture content for compaction of the organomineral mixture, which is typically 5–6%.
Cold organomineral mixtures can be produced either in mixing plants (with subsequent paving by asphalt pavers) or directly on-site using recyclers. Immediately after compaction of the layer, traffic can be opened or upper layers can be constructed.
